2 INSIDER November/December 2018 Sandy Almendarez Editor in Chief (480)281-6745 @SandyAlmendarez Viewpoint INSIDER is on Your (Supply)Side We're entering one of the most productive times of the year for food, beverage and supplement brands—SupplySide West, Nov. 6 to 10, in Las Vegas, where brands discover the ingredients, services and partners that help propel their products forward. I love exploring the booths to get a feel for the current trends, reuniting with friends and making new connections at networking events, and enjoying the fun Vegas has to offer. But my favorite part of the show is the education; what can I say? I love content. This year, I'm especially excited for the new Esca Bona Pavilion (booth 5301), designed to engage and serve companies working to create a good food system that is regenerative, nourishing and accessible to all. Open to all attendees, Esca Bona at SupplySide West is designed to encourage dialogue among participants, and to showcase thought leadership in action. On Nov. 8 and 9, the Esca Bona Pavilion hosts short presentations intended to provoke new thinking about the ingredient supply chain and opportunities for collaboration. Also on the show fl oor, SupplySide Central returns with its live, interactive education sessions where attendees can pop in to learn about hot topics in the food, beverage and supplement industries. Fast-paced presentations include discussions on new ingredient offerings in the SupplySide Launchpad, the latest market data, and innovations in product development in the Editor's Choice Awards. The SupplySide Central Stage is in booth 1036, and sessions are open to all participants. Down the hall in our education sessions, we're covering it all, from CBD to generational marketing, healthy aging, personalized nutrition, probiotics, food and beverage reformulation, and more. This issue of INSIDER includes articles from almost 25 of our SupplySide West speakers from nearly 15 sessions starting on page 114, so make sure to pack this issue in your carryon bag, read up and prepare for the show. If you haven't already signed up for education, you can do so at registration when you get to the show. If this will be your fi rst SupplySide, I urge you to attend the First-Time Attendee Reception the day before the expo hall opens (Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.) at RX Boiler Room to meet other fi rst-timers and network with industry rock stars (and me!). For more information and to get registered for SupplySide West, head to And when you tweet about the show onsite, use the handle @supplyside and the hashtag #SSWExpo. See you at the show!
