Companies Expand to Meet Growth Demands Aenova, a medicine and dietary supplement manufacturer, signed a long-term contract to assume responsibility for SkyePharma's Muttenz, Switzerland-based laboratory servicing oral dosage forms. The move follows Aenova's August 2011 deal to take the reigns of SkyePharma's high-quality EMEA- and FDA-certified production facility in Lyons. The Muttenz facility is a state-of-the-art laboratory for pharmaceutical and analytical development that is equipped with all the latest technology and is immediately operational. TSI Group formed two new divisions–value services and innovation products— with the goal to double existing corporate business by 2015. The innovation products division will provide global sales and marketing of proprietary branded ingredients such as PEAK ATP®, Promilin®, PromilinPro®, MSV60® and Ostivone®. Value services division branded ingredients will include PUREFLEX® glucosamine and chondroitin, GlucosaGreen™ non-shellfish glucosamine, phytovone soy extracts, Opteava® green tea and Gingko™ 24/6/5. Original founding co-partner Larry Kolb will be managing director of innovation products division based in Missoula, MT. David Tiffney, who has been with TSI for 10 years, will be managing director of value services division and is based at the company's operation headquarters in Shanghai. Lysi hf expected to complete the expansion of its headquarters by March 31, which will double its capacity to produce omega-3 oils. The expanded plant in Reykjavik, Iceland, will process Norwegian cod liver oil, the supply of which was acquired by Lysi in late in 2011 when it purchased Maritex, a local supply of the arctic raw material. Lysi said the increased production coincides with increasing demand in North America, most of which is attributed to the success of one of its partners, Boulder, CO-based ArcticSource1. ArcticSource1 became the U.S. distributor of products from Lysi hf in August 2011. OmniKan Earth Science Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of OmniActive Health Technologies, opened its second facility in Hassan, India, to facilitate the production of lutein from marigold f lowers for the supplement in d u st r y. Th e p lant s h o ul d al s o benefit the lives of more than 10,000 local farmers and more than 30,000 agricul tur al workers, according to OmniActive Health Technologies. Phase one of the project has been completed wi th an agricultural network covering more than 10,000 acres of land and a processing capacity at several million kilos of marigold flower. Phase two features instal lat ion of equipment and related bui lding improvements requi red to complete the manufacturing portion of its local operation. Because of the accelerated timeline for the manufacturing operation, NOW Foods began hiring for the newly created manufactur ing, management and chemist jobs in March 2012.
