2 ASHWAGANDHA ADVANTAGE Exploring the Ashwagandha Advantage I n addition to price sensitivity, consumers are increasingly looking for nutritional products with comprehensible scientifi c backing and a clean label, delivered by companies prioritizing social responsibility and sustainability. In an August 2016 national consumer survey from Packaged Facts, around 60 percent of adults somewhat or strongly agreed: • They only take supplements that have solid scientifi c evidence supporting the health benefi ts. • Nutritional supplements should be free from genetically modifi ed organisms (GMOs). • They prefer to get nutrition from foods, rather than supplements—even though they believe supplements are generally safe to use. These underlying values help shape consumer sentiment regarding research, natural and clean label ingredients, and preferred delivery methods.
